The KNCV Gouden Medaille is the most important award in the Netherlands for researchers who have done groundbreaking work in the chemistry profession in the broadest sense of the word. The prize is awarded to researchers aged younger than 40, not only to honour their accomplishments but also to predict future chemical triumphs. The KNCV has awarded the Gouden Medaille to top talents in chemistry in the Netherlands since 1965.
Prof Erik Garnett, professor of Nanoscale Photovoltaics at the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Computer Science of the University of Amsterdam (UvA), is the winner of the KNCV Gold Medal 2022. The jury report describes Garnett as "a fantastic chemist and mentor as well as a great ambassador for the Dutch chemistry world".
