- A chemist is responsible for the safety of him/herself, his colleagues and the environment when working with chemicals and while applying scientific knowledge. A chemist has an obligation to signal processes that may be harmful to people or the environment.
- A chemist contributes as far as possible to the sustainable use of substances, so the present use of raw materials has no influence on the use in the future.
- A chemist should adhere to the prevailing laws, values and standards. This not only concerns his or her own behaviour. A chemist is expected to point out unethical behaviour by others and report that to the relevant authorities.
