KNCV FELLINGA FUND

Attending an international conference during your study or PhD programme can be a great way to open yourself up to new knowledge and make new connections. Presenting your research findings is an essential part of the experience. Unfortunately, conferences are often far away and therefore expensive in terms of travel costs. On top of that, there are conference fees and accommodation costs. The KNCV has a fund to help cover these costs, known as the Fellinga Fund.

The maximum amount the fund will pay is € 750 for conferences outside Europe and € 450 for conferences in Europe. Half of the amount is paid out prior to departure. The remainder is paid out after the conference, after the participant submits a brief report and an expense claim form.

In order to be eligible, participants must:

  • Be under the age of 30.
  • Have been a KNCV member for at least two years.
  • Be a student (last phase at university or institute of higher education) or work in a chemistry, biochemistry or chemical technology-related profession.
  • Not have received a previous grant from the fund.

The application must include:

  1. A brief description of the event.
  2. The purpose of and reason for attending the conference.
  3. An estimate of the expected costs.
  4. A financial overview (e.g. grant from work group).
  5. A letter of recommendation from the employer or mentor.

Applications should be submitted at least three months prior to the start of the conference. Please submit your application to the KNCV office (kncv@kncv.nl).

The Fellinga Fund was established in 1952 through a donation from the estate of ir. F.D. Fellinga.
